The Denim Shirt Cardi

I have been obsessed with this denim shirt I recently purchased at H&M.  Initially, I was trying the shirt on tucked into high-waist bottom or putting it under jackets.  I liked some of the styles I came up with, but I did not fall in love until I began styling the denim shirt as a cardigan.  I became obsessed and began to look for other people who were doing this.  Check out these awesome looks I found while surfing the net!

(Can't find the initial website this one came from...sorry!)

Found this one on a blog called Toronto Shopoholic!

Here's how I experimented with this look.  What do you think?

The LBD

The LBD (Little Black Dress)
The perfect LBD is essential in any woman's wardrobe.  It can be worn on so many different occasions, matches all kinds of accessories, and makes you feel super classy.  I visited the great and powerful King of Prussia Mall a few weeks ago with Tom (my boytoy) when I stumbled upon a gorgeous little LBD on the clearance rack (marked down from $128 to $39).  Although I was not looking for a little black dress, how could I possibly resist that kind of savings?  So, of course, I purchased the dress and have tried it on at least 10 times because I cannot get enough of how great it feels.  I just like to keep this one simple with a gold necklace and some black pumps...take a look and let me know what you think!

I styled the dress with this bold gold statement necklace (really cheap at Forever21)

It would also look great under this trench by Cynthia Rowley (from TJMaxx...available on ebay in extra smallmedium and large)

Here are some other cute LBDs:
The cut-out LBD: $37.50 at lulus.com

The backless LBD: $46 at lulus.com

The Off-the-shoulder LBD...if only I had the money for this one! It is $210 at Free People.

** I will be doing a tribute to the LWD soon because of this summer's huge white trend!!!

Summer Style

Maxi Skirts
Ah the Maxi Skirt...a year-round piece that can be effortlessly styled for summer.  Although the maxi dresses from this summer have been adorable, I am more inclined to buy maxi skirts because they can be totally transformed with a change of belt or top.  They can be dressed up or down, and best of all, they cover up your hairy legs when you're not in the mood to shave.
Solid colors are very versatile and will carry into the Fall and Winter.  I also am very concerned about length.  I'm 5'8'' and will only buy maxi skirts that are 40'' or longer likethis one from alloy for $34 - 36!

Here are some looks I threw together with my most versatile maxi skirt, currently on sale at Armani Exchange for $39!  The two looks I have included showcase two things I love this season, the denim shirt and the scoop-back top).  Please excuse the messy hair (eek!).  I have been waaayy too low maintenance lately.

denim shirt from H&M (I love denim tops lately), old black crochet and brown belt from forever 21 (a cheap alternative is this F21 stretchy woven belt)
Black skinny belt with gold hardware(came with shorts from H&M), Read scoop-back v-neck tee (urban outfitters - sold out...striped scoop back available at F21)

High-low Hemline

High-Low Hemline
When I'm excited about a look, I usually go in full-throttle and get a very dramatic version of the look, one that is impractical for everyday use.  I like floral, so I have too many floral things.  I love peplum, so I have more peplum clothing than I should ever want.   Contrary to my usual gung ho approach to style, I have just began to dabble in the high-low hem trend as I am a believer that people (myself included) will become more accustomed to the look over time.  Here is one example of a high-low hem that I'm in loooove with:

I love how romantic and flowy the high-low hem can look.  Check out this beautiful whiteruffled high-low hem dress from venus.com for $44.  Just throw on a belt, shades, and some sandals and you're ready to go!
